General Info on Pres. Ramon Magsaysay Outstanding Filipino Worker Award

The following are general info on PRMOFWA based on the selection guidelines:

Categories of the Award-

1. Wage Employed - open to all Filipino male and female blue-collar workers who are currently engaged in the practice of a vocational trade, economically active and have been working for at least the last three years.

2. Self-Employed - opent to Filipino male and female blue-collar workers who have been engaged in self-owned, profit-earning enterprise (in any of the TESDA identified priority industry sectors: agri-fishery, processed food and beverage, tourism, hotel and restaurant, garments, footwear and leather goods; metals and engineering; furniture and fixtures; construction; heating ventialation and air conditioning; electronics and communication; info technology; maritime; decorative crafts; automotive and land transport; health, social and other community devt. services) for the last three years and whose productivity index has been rated high.

Because of budgetary constraints this year, only one awardee, either male or female shall be chosen from each category.

Levels of Search-

The selection process for the awardees shall be undertaken at the regional and national levels. Winners at the regional level shall compete for the National Award.

Qualification Criteria-

The prospective awardee should demonstrate a high producitivity index, technical competence, maturity, adaptability and flexibility in the work situation. He/She must also exemplify the practices of universal values of integrity, discipline and love for family, enjoyment of work and a commitment to community building.

To qualify for the award, a nominee must be

1. A post-secondary technical vocational graduate whose consequent immediate employment is in line with his/her tech-voc education/training;

2. Technically skilled;

3. Economically active and has been working in line with his/her trade for the last three years;

4. Cleared from any criminal record or administrative infractions;

5. Nominated by any legitimate civic, social, religious, labor or industry organizations;

6. Working in the region that he/she represents; and

7. In good health condition.
