ASCTECs Meeting Slated on August 11

The Association of Sorsogon CTECs (ASCTECs) will hold its regular meeting this August 11, 2005 in Donsol, Sorsogon at 9:00 in the morning. All CTECs of the Province are expected to attend.

IDP Formulation Workshop

The two TESDA-Administered schools in the Province will have their Institutional Development Plan (IDP) Formulation workshops this last week of July and first week of August. BNVTS is scheduled to have its workshop this July 28-29 while SNAS will have it this August 4-5.

The IDPs of that they will formulate will cover 2005-2009 and will reflect the directions and programs thrusts of the PTESDP of Sorsogon for the same period. The IDP form part of the basis for various medium-term plans of BNVTS and SNAS, including their Human Resource Devt. Plan, Procurement Program, Site Development Plan and Work and Financial Plans.

The Provincial Office will facilitate the said workshops.

CASIFMAS Briefs Sorsogon CTECs on STOA

In order facilitate the adoption of Skills Training on the Air (STOA) program of Camarines Sur Institute of Fishery and Marines Science (CASIFMAS) by the different local government units (LGUs) in Sorsogon, Mr. Carlito J. Peralta, Program Chair, briefed the Community Training and Employment Coordinators (CTECs) of Sorsogon in a special meeting of Association of Sorsogon CTECs last July 1, 2005 at Mango Grills Restaurant.

CTECs from different LGUs of Sorsogon attended the briefing and indicated their interest in adopting the program. CASIFMAS will provide them with the procedures manual for the conduct of STOA for discussion with their respective mayors or MTESDCs.

TESDA-Sorsogon and ASCTECs would like to thank Mr. Francisco Romanes, Vocational School Superintendent II of CASIFMAS for giving us the opportunity to be part of CASIFMAS's STOA program.

PTESDC Meeting

PTESDC Holds 2nd Qtr Meeting

To review the accomplishments for the TVET sector for the First Quarter, conduct a preliminary review of the Provincial TESD Plan (2005-2009), provide policy inputs for the enhancement of implementation of Competency-Based Curriculum of the private schools, and enact local policies along concerns of other TVET bodies, the Provincial TESD Committee of Sorsogon held its regular meeting for the 2nd Quarter this June 28, 2005 at Mango Grill Restaurant.

Those in attendance included Ms. Preciosa H. Villarroya (Chair), Mr. Anthony M. Bravo (Labor sector representative), Fr. Richard Germanetto (Private Schools representative), Ms. Pilar Leocadio (permanent representative of Gov. Lee), Ms. Leah Pagao (DTI Provincial Director/Government Sector representative), and Miss Elizabeth Bornas (representing PD Mynda Santos).

The PTESDC passed seven resolutions during the meeting.

PCACC Holds Meeting for 2nd Quarter

The Provincial Competency Assessment and Certification Committee (PCACC) of Sorsogon held its regular meeting for the 2nd Quarter this June 27, 2005 at the Mango Grill Restaurant. Competency Assessment Focal Mr. Jason Olarte briefed the body on recent developments along Philippine TVET Qualification and Certification System.

PCACC passed two resolutions (proposing for the granting of honoraria to team members of the Inspection Team of organizations applying as Assessment Centers, and requesting approval of a localized Procedures Manual on the Conduct of Competency Assessment) for policy action by the Provincial TESD Committee during its meeting the following day.
