IDP Review for TESDA Administered Schools
To help them update their Institutional Development Plans in line with the directions of the Provincial TESD Plan for 2005-2009, the Provincial Office held a 2-day review and IDP framework formulation workshop for Bulusan National Vocational Technical School (BNVTS) and Sorsogon National Agricultural School (SNAS) this June 23-24 at BNVTS in Bulusan, Sorsogon.
Key personnel from both schools, including their acting VSAs, Engr. Roan P. Espinas (BNVTS) and Ms. Romana S. Bermillo (SNAS), attended the workshop.
Miss Elizabeth Bornas, Ms. Ella Jamoralin and Mr. Manny Azusano from the Provincial Office facilitated the workshop.
Aside from the review, the two schools also received inputs for operationalizing their QA systems within the context of the directions of their updated IDPs. Ms. Nenita Villalon, QA Focal of San Francisco Institute of Science & Technology, provided briefing on how to go about with the QA program.
PO Sorsogon would like to thank Engr. Espinas for accomodating the participants and Mr. Manny Sacayan for allowing us to "borrow" Ms. Villalon.

I-CARE Meeting with Bicol Bloc
PD Serrano (Camarines Sur), Miss Bornas (representing PD Santos - Sorsogon), Acting RD Bosangit (concurrently PD of Albay) and PD Garcia (Catanduanes) answer queries from Bicol Bloc congressmen during their special meeting at Ramon V. Magsaysay Hall in Congress on June 7, 2005. The Bicol Bloc congressmen are proposing to increase allocation and coverage of scholarship for the Region.

Synchronized Briefing on TESDA Rationalization Plan
This is in conformity with our agency's compliance with the provisions of Executive Order No. 366 (DIRECTING A STRATEGIC REVIEW OF THE OPERATIONS AND ORGANIZATIONS OF THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH AND PROVIDING OPTIONS AND INCENTIVES FOR GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES WHO MAY BE AFFECTED BY THE RATIONALIZATION OF THE FUNCTIONS AND AGENCIES OF THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH) issued by the President on October 4, 2004.
The TESDA Rationalization Plan is an organization-wide plan and is being implemented in all TESDA offices and institutions throughout the country.

TESDA V Meets with Congress Bicol Bloc on I-CARE
To present specific programs and activities under the I-CARE program, the Provincial Directors of Region V or their representatives and the Acting Regional Director Fortunato Bosangit met with the Bicol Bloc congressmen yesterday afternoon (June 7, 2005) at Ramon Mitra Hall in Congress. The Bicol Bloc moved that the PESFA/ADB scholarship program for Region V be expanded to cover greater number of poor but deserving students. They also moved for the inclusion of non-formal trainings in an scholarship program, the fast-tracking of ladderization and interfacing between TVET and higher education, and the institutionalization of referral, placement and enterprise development components in TVET courses.
PD Santos was represented by Miss Beth Bornas during the meeting.
TESDA-Sorsogon would like to extend its thanks to Cong. Solis (2nd District, Sorsogon) for supporting our proposal by sharing the concerns of the TVET sector with the other members of the Bicol Bloc during the meeting. It was he who first moved for the expansion of PESFA/ADB scholarship program.

TVET Options
The blogspot for TVET Options, a TVET management/labor market information and intelligence newsletter published by TESDA Sorsogon Provincial Office, is now available at http://tvetoptions.blogspot.com/. At present, we are still working on the analyses that we will post soon.
Back to Five-Day Workweek
We are now back to five-day workweek. Our office will now once again be open from 8:00 in the morning to 5:00 in the afternoon, Monday to Friday.
Provincial TESD Plan Formulation for 2005-2009 Begins
TESDA-Sorsogon is now drafting the Provincial TESD Plan for 2005-2009 after an initial writeshop at the Regional Office on June 1-2. The Plan is utilizing the inputs from LGUs (investment plans, Municipal Training Plans or Mun. TESD Plans), other national government agencies, the Provincial Planning and Development Office (Provincial Medium-Term Development Plan and Annual Investment Plan), and TESDA Central and Regional Offices among others. We are expecting to release the first draft by June 30. After that, it will be used by all TVET bodies, TESDA schools, private TVIs and other stakeholders of TVET in the Province.
